Can games win you back?

Some games come and go, and some carry on for years. Franchises like World of Warcraft, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, Destiny, Doom and Halo come to mind. These either have regular content drops or major game releases. If you get burned by a bad installment or season are you willing to give them a second chance?

I write this on the verge of a new season of Destiny 2. I played lots of Destiny 1 and have great memories of playing it with friends. When D2 came out we were all excited to check out what Bungie had for us next. Needless to say, the execution was not done well and everyone I played with bailed and will not be coming back.

I stuck around Destiny 2 jumping in here and there but mostly watching streamers. I'm tempted to get back in to D2 with the new season. I even reinstalled and logged in for the first time in a long time to experience the live event over the weekend. The hype and mystery behind this new release has me itching for that nostalgic feeling of being a space cowboy!

If it is not fun and exciting I might lament forking out my hard-earned money, but hey I might also miss out if I don’t. The FOMO is real.
